4.6 V8 built and back in Malaga

Postby LB_malaga » Wed Apr 03, 2013 7:55 am

Morning all,

Its taken a while but I've got the 4.6 rebuilt and back into my Malaga. So its a 4.6 range rover V8 which has had the top end stripped and rebuilt. I've fitted a Crower 50232 camshaft, double valve springs, new stem seals, heavy duty push rods, duplex timing chain, ARP head studs and Rhoads bleed down anti pump followers. I've also ported the heads and had to enlarge the holes for the push rods due to the diameter of the new ones.

Here's the bottom end, probably should have cleaned it....

Block with one head fitted in place

Duplex timing chain

The block with one head with the rocker shafts, followers and push rods

Rocker shafts correctly shimmed up to give 40thou preload on the followers

Another angle the push rods and head

New followers in place

ARP head studs which can be reused for when I blow it up

Both heads fitted

The beasty back in the car with an injection manfoild sat in place so I can judge how high the 600cc 4 barrel Holley will stick out the bonnet

A little fibre glassing to do.....

Next weekends job to refit the 3.5 SD1 sump, timing cover and oil pump with a + 10psi mod to oil pressure

I think 250bhp and around 300ft/lb should be adequate for a 700kg car
